SuperFOIL SFTV FR Reflective Vapour Control Layer – Fire-Improved Radiant Barrier (2-in-1)

SuperFOIL SFTV FR provides the same reflective vapour control and radiant barrier function as SFTV, but with improved fire performance, making it suitable for projects where a higher reaction-to-fire classification is required without increasing build-up thickness.

SuperFOIL SFTV FR is a reflective vapour control layer (VCL) designed for use on the internal (warm) side of roofs, walls, and floors. With a thickness of less than 1 mm, it combines vapour control and radiant heat reflection in a single, ultra-slim membrane that improves airtightness and overall thermal performance.

It is suitable for new builds, retrofits, timber-frame construction, and professional applications where enhanced fire performance is required.

Product Dimensions & Coverage

  • Thickness: < 1 mm

  • Length (various): 25 m / 50 m

  • Width (various): 1 m

  • Weight (various): approx. 4 kg / 8 kg

2-in-1 Multifunctional Design

SuperFOIL SFTV FR combines two essential functions in one product:

  • Reflective vapour control layer (VCL) to manage moisture movement

  • Radiant barrier that reflects radiant heat when installed adjacent to an air space

This integrated design simplifies construction, reduces air movement, and supports compliance with modern building regulations.

Vapour Control & Radiant Performance

SFTV FR is engineered to resist moisture transfer through walls, floors, and ceilings while enhancing thermal efficiency:

  • Improves airtightness

  • Reduces uncontrolled air movement

  • Significantly lowers condensation risk

  • Reflects radiant heat back into the building envelope

When installed next to an air space (such as a service cavity), its reflective properties deliver measurable thermal benefits.

Thermal Performance

Certified thermal performance when installed with adjacent air spaces
(core value + air spaces, EN 16012 methodology):

  • Roof (incl. air spaces): 0.45 m²K/W

  • Wall (incl. air spaces): 0.66 m²K/W

  • Floor (incl. air spaces): 1.31 m²K/W

  • Core: N/A

  • Emittance: 0.05

What does R-Value mean?

R-Value (m²K/W) measures resistance to heat flow.
The higher the R-Value, the better the insulation performance.

What does Emittance mean?

Emittance measures how much heat a surface emits (radiates).

A low emittance value (typically around 0.05) means very low heat emission and high reflection of radiant heat, improving overall thermal performance when installed with adjacent air spaces.

This interpretation is aligned with EN 16012 and reflects how reflective multifoil insulation performance is evaluated across EU technical documentation.

Water Vapour Control Performance

  • Water vapour resistance: 2500 MN·s/g

This provides almost six times the vapour resistance of a standard vapour control layer, significantly reducing the risk of condensation within roofs, walls, and floors when installed correctly.

Key Benefits

  • Reflective vapour control layer and radiant barrier in one product

  • Improved fire performance compared to standard SFTV

  • Extremely high vapour resistance for effective condensation control

  • Ultra-thin and lightweight design

  • Easy and fast installation

  • No specialist tools required

  • Improves airtightness and overall system performance

  • Suitable for roofs, walls, and floors

  • Supports compliance with current building regulations

Applications

SuperFOIL SFTV FR is suitable for use in:

  • Roof constructions (internal side)

  • Wall build-ups (internal side)

  • Floor applications

For best performance, it should be installed adjacent to an air space and all joints and penetrations sealed with compatible reflective foil tape.

Fire & Safety Performance

  • Reaction to Fire (Euroclass): Class E

SFTV FR – Quality & Certification

  • Manufactured under a certified ISO 9001:2015 quality management system

  • CE certified to EN 13984:2013 for vapour control performance

  • Tested to meet current UK and EU building regulations when installed correctly

  • Designed, tested, and supported by SuperFOIL technical specialists

Why Choose SuperFOIL SFTV FR?

SFTV FR is specified where high vapour resistance, radiant performance, and improved fire classification are required within a minimal build-up. It is particularly suited to professional projects where regulatory compliance and risk reduction are critical.

It offers a practical upgrade from standard SFTV without increasing thickness or installation complexity.

Is SuperFOIL suitable for new builds and renovations?
Yes. SuperFOIL multifoil insulation is designed for both new construction projects and renovation or retrofit applications. Its slim profile makes it especially suitable where space is limited while still delivering high thermal performance.
Does SuperFOIL replace traditional insulation?
Yes. in many applications, SuperFOIL can fully replace traditional insulation systems when the construction build-up is designed according to manufacturer guidance. It can also be used in combination with conventional insulation to enhance overall thermal performance while reducing the required insulation thickness.
Can SuperFOIL be used in roofs, walls and floors?
Yes. SuperFOIL insulation systems are suitable for use in roofs, walls, and floors across residential, commercial, and industrial construction.
Is a vapour control layer required?
Some SuperFOIL products include an integrated vapour control layer, while others may require an additional vapour control layer depending on the construction design.
How is thermal performance calculated?
Thermal performance depends on the complete construction build-up, including air gaps, supporting materials, and installation method. Use the official SuperFOIL u-value calculator for accurate results.
Is SuperFOIL compliant with building regulations?
Yes. SuperFOIL products are independently tested and certified to meet relevant building regulation requirements when installed according to manufacturer specifications.

Exact thermal performance depends on the full construction build-up. Use the official SuperFOIL U-Value Calculator to verify compliance and performance.
